Stronger than Cancer: Blaze Credit Union

Cancer is something that impacts us all, whether it is our own diagnosis or that of a loved one. That is why Blaze’s giving programs have an emphasis on supporting cancer research, patient support, and awareness.

October is traditionally Cancer Awareness month at Blaze, and this fall, we are activating with many of our cancer-focused nonprofit partners.

Event Sponsorships

Blaze is proud to be a sponsor of numerous fundraisers for cancer research this fall, including Humor to Fight the Tumor, the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance “Strides for Ovarian Cancer” walk, the “Brave Like Gabe” 5K, and Blood Cancer United’s “Light the Night” walk.

Children’s Cancer Research Foundation Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month Campaign

Blaze is a longtime partner of the Children’s Cancer Research Foundation (CCRF). CCRF’s mission is to fund transformational research to bring better treatments and cures to children with cancer. During Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month this September, you may have seen billboards highlighting CCRF’s work; Blaze is proud to help support this awareness campaign.

Tackle Cancer

Once again this fall, Blaze is donating $2,500 each to five Minnesota high schools in support of their “Tackle Cancer” initiatives. Tackle Cancer brings high school and college football players, coaches, and fans together to raise money to support cancer research. In 2025, Blaze’s donations will be made to the “Tackle Cancer” programs at Foley, Waseca, Woodbury, Centennial, and St. Louis Park High Schools.

American Cancer Society Partnership

American Cancer Society (ACS) is one of the leading cancer-fighting organizations, working to end cancer as we know it for everyone. ACS works to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support. Earlier this year, Blaze awarded a $20,000 FHLB Member Impact Fund Grant to ACS, and we are also a sponsor of the annual “Champions of Hope” gala in November. Both initiatives support the two ACS Hope Lodges in Minnesota, which provide a safe and free place for patients and their families to stay while getting treatment.

Regions Hospital Foundation Partnership

Regions Hospital is one of the leading cancer care hospitals in the Twin Cities. Blaze’s partnership with the Regions Hospital Foundation includes annual donations to the Foundation’s “Mission in Action” Fund, which invests in the technology, equipment, education, and staff support that helps the hospital provide this care. Blaze also provides monthly meals to hospital staff as a thank you for their crucial work.

We invite all of our members to learn more about the incredible work of these nonprofit partners by visiting their websites. Learn more about all of Blaze’s community work at blazecu.com/community.
