Blaze is pleased to announce a new partnership with Minnesota native and Minnesota Wild defenseman, Brock Faber.
Originally a second-round (No. 45) pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2020 NHL Draft, Faber played three seasons for the Golden Gophers, serving as team captain and helping lead them to the 2023 NCAA championship game.
The University of Minnesota standout came back to the state of hockey to play for the Wild in a trade deal with the LA Kings on June 29, 2022. Nearly one year later, he signed a three-year, entry-level contract and joined the roster for the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He scored his first NHL goal in Minnesota's 2-0 win against the Florida Panthers on home ice at Xcel Energy Center on Oct. 12, 2023.
Among 2023-24 rookies, Faber ranked first in blocked shots (150), tied for first in assists (39), and third in power-play assists (13), third in power-play points (16), tied for sixth in power-play goals (three) and eighth in shots on goal (136). He set single-season Wild records for assists by a rookie (points by a rookie defenseman), and a team mark for the longest point streak by a rookie at the position (six games from Jan. 15-25). Faber was also a finalist for the 2024 Calder Trophy given to the NHL rookie of the year.
Growing up in Maple Grove, Faber is deeply tied to his family and Minnesota.
“Brock is truly living his dream, playing for his home team while using his time to make an impact in his community. This is exactly why we wanted to work with him. He makes Minnesota proud and truly cares about helping others,” said Blaze CEO Dan Stoltz.
Faber won a gold medal for the United States at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he had five assists in seven games.
Earlier this year, the Minnesota Wild signed Faber to an eight-year contract extension keeping him with the team through 2033.
Stolz added, “Brock is one of us, he’s a Minnesotan who understands and appreciates hard work, dedication, and commitment.”
The partnership will include advertising beginning this Fall.
