Blaze Hockey Kids4Kids, an award-winning community initiative that helps raise awareness and funds for Gillette Children’s, is back for a seventh season. The innovative program is a collaboration between Blaze Credit Union, the Minnesota Wild, Wild Captain Jared Spurgeon, Minnesota Hockey, and Gillette Children’s in Saint Paul. Since the program’s inception, participating youth hockey teams have raised over $175,000 for Gillette Children’s.
Blaze Hockey Kids4Kids inspires Minnesota youth hockey teams to community service by encouraging them to develop creative fundraisers on behalf of Gillette Children’s, helping kids who may not be able to play hockey due to complex medical conditions or injuries. Teams that raise $500 or more will be qualified to win a one-of-a-kind team party in a suite at the Minnesota Wild – New Jersey Devils game on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
The winning team, selected at random, will participate in a post-game meet and greet with Jared Spurgeon, additional Minnesota Wild players and team personnel, as well as receive merchandise from the Wild and Blaze. All teams that participate in the program will be invited to a complimentary skate session at Xcel Energy Center. Each member of any team that raises at least $500 will also receive a limited-edition Minnesota Wild-Hockey Kids4Kids branded cap.
“We are so excited for another season of Hockey Kids4Kids, and can’t wait to partner once again with the Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Hockey to assist local hockey teams in raising support for the kids and families of Gillette Children’s,” said Blaze CEO Dan Stoltz. “The success and the impact of Hockey Kids4Kids has had such a positive reflection on what makes our communities, particularly the Minnesota hockey community, so special. I want to encourage every youth hockey team to get involved and help support the tremendous work that Gillette Children’s does.”
Hockey Kids4Kids has been honored with a number of awards including the Minnesota Wild’s “Nordy” Award for Partner Community Engagement and the Minnesota Credit Union Network’s (MnCUN) Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award which recognizes credit unions for their charitable activities.
The seventh season of Blaze Credit Union’s Hockey Kids4Kids launched on Friday, November 1, 2024, and will run through Friday, March 14, 2025. Any youth hockey team governed by the Minnesota State High School League and/or Minnesota Hockey, the official governing board of youth hockey in the state, is eligible to participate. Details and registration information can be found at hockeykids4kids.org.
Participating teams and donors can help spread the word about the campaign via social media using the hashtag #hockeykids4kids.
