StarTribune Top Workplaces 2023

Hiway has been named one of the Top Workplaces in Minnesota by the Star Tribune. This is the ninth time Hiway has earned the designation. A complete list of those selected is available at startribune.com/mn-top-workplaces and will also be published in the Star Tribune Top Workplaces special section on Sunday, June 18.

Top Workplaces recognizes the best companies in Minnesota based on employee opinions measuring engagement, organizational health and satisfaction. The analysis included responses from 124,719 employees at Minnesota public, private and nonprofit organizations.

“Everyone at Hiway takes great pride in creating an environment and a culture where we all feel needed, rewarded and challenged, as well as comfortable being who we are,” said Hiway President Dave Boden. “Though we never set out to make any list, this honor validates we are doing things the right way and that we’re making a positive impact on not only our members and the communities that we serve, but our hardworking associates as well. I’m very proud!”

Hiway has a strong tradition of providing outstanding benefits for its staff including excellent health care, a generous PTO policy, paid leave and regular increases in base minimum wage.

A longtime active member of the St. Paul community, Hiway also encourages volunteerism by providing associates paid time off per year to support causes important to them. Hiway also developed an internal DEI group, MILE (Maximizing Inclusion Learning Equity) which focuses on associate education and celebrates the diversity of its associate group.

Star Tribune CEO and Publisher Steve Grove said, “The companies in the Star Tribune Top Workplaces deserve high praise for creating the very best work environments in the state of Minnesota. My congratulations to each of these exceptional companies.”

The results of the Star Tribune Top Workplaces are based on survey information collected by Energage, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention, and produced by the same team that compiles the Star Tribune 100 report of the best-performing public companies in Minnesota.

To qualify for Star Tribune Top Workplaces, a company must have more than 50 employees in Minnesota. Nearly 5,000 companies were invited to participate. Rankings were composite scores based on employee responses.
