Supporting the education aspriations of students in our communities. Awarding $200,000 in scholarships.

The Blaze Foundation announced its 2026 Scholarship Program, committing $200,000 to support the educational aspirations of students in the communities served by Blaze Credit Union.

“Our commitment to this scholarship program reflects our belief that access to education changes lives. We are investing in students who have the talent, purpose, and heart to shape their communities, and we are committed to amplifying their drive, turning potential into impact,” said Christine Cordell, Blaze Senior Vice President/Chief Project/Learning Officer and Chair of the Blaze Credit Union Foundation. “By investing in our youth today, we are strengthening our communities for generations to come.”

The Blaze Foundation Scholarship Program addresses the needs of three primary groups:

Needs-Based Scholarships

The purpose of these funds is to remove financial barriers and expand educational opportunities for students with demonstrated need. Open to all students, regardless of Blaze membership status, a total of $120,000 will be awarded via forty-eight $2,500 scholarships.

Blaze Member Scholarships

Twenty-four $2,500 scholarships, totaling $60,000, are allocated exclusively for Blaze Credit Union members. Twelve Traditional Students (a current high school student graduating in 2026) and twelve Non-Traditional Students (a student who is either continuing or returning to higher education endeavors) will receive a total of $60,000.

Blaze Credit Union High School Branch Scholarships

Designated for students at Como, Harding, Highland, and Johnson High Schools in St. Paul, MN where Blaze Credit Union operates student branches. Eight $2,500 scholarships will be awarded for a total of $20,000. Two scholarships are allocated to each of the Blaze high school branch partner schools. Blaze Credit Union membership is not a requirement for eligibility.

To be eligible for any Blaze Scholarship, applicants must be a current high school student (graduating in 2026) or a student who is either continuing or returning to higher education endeavors. All applicants must be enrolled in, accepted to, or planning to attend an accredited post-secondary school during the 2026-2027 school year.

Recipients will be selected based on need, academic performance, community involvement (notable accomplishments, professional or community affiliations, extra-curricular activities, awards, and volunteering), and a letter of recommendation. Applicants will also be required to submit an essay answering the question: “Describe a financial challenge you or your family has faced and how it shapes the way you think about money today.”
