Call for Candidates
Blaze is a member-owned financial cooperative, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. As a member of Blaze, you can become a candidate for the Board of Directors and be part of Blaze’s leadership.
What does it take to be on the board?
- College degree and/or post graduate work
- 10-15+ years credit union or related commercial business, accounting, economics, insurance and/or small business operations experience
- 8-10 years senior management, business owner, or related leadership experience
- Active involvement in credit union community or market
- Willingness/ability to develop business for the credit union
- Understanding of credit union philosophy and desire to better the financial lives of members
- Ability to understand financial concepts and statements
- Knowledgeable about financial institutions and the financial services industry
- Ability to plan and think strategically
- Effective communication skills, written, oral, and listening
- Effective leadership and management skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Understands applicable laws and regulations governing the credit union industry, and/or willingness/ability to learn such
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to develop and communicate corporate goals and objectives
- Analytical/synthesis skills
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing the credit union industry
- Sound judgment, courtesy, tact and diplomacy
In addition, you must be able to commit 5+ hours per month, and have a strong dedication to Blaze members.
