One-time pass code, secure authentication code, verification code—no matter what they’re called, they all do the same thing—protect your financial accounts. These codes are for you only and should not be shared with anyone!

If someone gets access to your username and password and attempts to log into your account online, a code
may be sent to your email or phone as an extra layer of protection. A scammer could then call you and pretend
to be someone you know and trust, like your financial institution. If they ask you to provide this code—it’s a scam! Hang up and call Blaze at 651.215.3500 to report the scam.

If someone gets access to your debit or credit card number, a code may be sent to your phone if the scammer is attempting to add your card number into a Digital Wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay). The scammer could then call you and pretend to be someone you know and trust asking you to provide this code. If they do, hang up and call Blaze at 651.215.3500 to report the scam.

If you receive a text to your phone, verify the number it came from. Legitimate text alerts should come from a 5-digit number, also called a short code. Text alerts from an actual phone number are likely a scam. If you receive an alert to your email, verify the email address it came from. Scammers can make it look like an email is coming from a place it’s not.
